Web Servers Upgrading For PHP and Mysql For All Clients!

01/23/2009 22:20

Beginning Sunday, February 1st, 2009, Wildfire Enterprises will begin upgrading from PHP4 to PHP5 and Mysql 4.1 to Mysql 5.0 scripts on all of it's Web Servers.  Clients are not required to do anything as these updates will occur automatically on all of our company web-servers for all of our clients.

As technology continues to advance and evolve, Wildfire Enterprises has always aimed to stay at the forefront of the technological curve.  Following this trend to provide the most up-to-date hardware, software and security, we are proceeding with making PHP5 part of the standard working environment on all of our servers, as well as upgrading MySQL from version 4.1 to 5.0.

These upgrades will begin on all new servers launched from this point forward.  As of Sunday, February 1st, 2009, we will begin converting our current production servers to this new environment.

We are aware that upgrading from PHP 4.x to PHP 5.0 & Mysql 4.1 to 5.0 may cause some problems with older PHP scripts and MySQL data structures and you are advised to contact your software vendor to prepare for this upgrade.  Due to major security flaws in the PHP 4.X platform we are forced to take this measure to secure all client data and the stability of all client services on all of our Web Servers.

This includes testing scripts and programs that may conflict with the upgrade and automatically upgrading your code to a problem-free, stable and PHP5 compatible version.  The MySQL upgrade may have minor issues as well, which will be handled in a similar manner.

This upgrade process is going to be as automated as possible, but we understand that some customers may have scripts and program applications that may not function properly after these upgrades are in play.  All servers and accounts will be upgraded to PHP5 and MySQL 5 with no exceptions.

With that said, we hope that either none or only a very small percentage of clients will be affected by this.  Most software vendors have been working to upgrade their software from the PHP 4.x to PHP 5.x platform for years and do offer service upgrades and updates.

Please check your entire website right after these upgrades are performed and should you see a PHP or MySQL application, script or program that is not functioning properly, please contact us at http://www.wildfire-ent.com/contact-us-tickets.htm and then submit a tech support ticket to us and we will then immediately address any issues with you that you may have.

Any non-working, scripts, programs or applications may have to me manually upgraded to their newest versions and this may require you to have brand new programming done by Wildfire Enterprises.  This labor can and would be performed at our regular $80.00 per hour rate and the cost for this would be incurred solely by the client to update their website into these current platforms.

A “prior-to” hourly rate estimate would given and approved by the client for us to perform such required programming that would be needed for your website to continue it’s operation properly.

We at Wildfire Enterprises would like to thank you again for your continued valued business and we look forward to serving you for many years into the future!
